I was so excited at square one when Amy initially asked me to design a custom letterpress wedding invitation suite for her wedding. Amy is my sister-in-law's sister, and my impression of their family is true to their roots: they stick together, love to live and laugh, and they also are creative thinkers and carry a large portion of good ideas.
Amy brought a mood board to the table, as well as references to things that would be a part of her and Anthony's wedding day. She knew she wanted something whimsical, but not too girly, and had the idea of incorporating the paper flowers that her family made as decor for the wedding (...super awesome, right?!). So of course I was thrilled to tie in these elements, and the more time I spent sketching and designing, the more I loved being reminded that every small piece- from the type of calligraphy, to the way it is written on the paper, to the placement and size of the flowers, the simple stars, the hierarchy of information, the classy serifed typography- was vital to develop the fitting design for Amy and Anthony. And in this case, we have elegant meets fresh. After the couple months of discussion, the editing, and printing process, these beautifully letter pressed gems turned out!
One of my favorite parts, aside from the overall cohesiveness, is the map detailing information of the ceremony and reception in Chicago, and a few landmarks. I must say, I am super proud of myself considering I have been there once!
