"My imperfections always work their way to the surface. I love that. It's a constant and gracious reminder that I am dustmade." - Anna Edwards
Anna Edwards is proficiently graceful in translating her heart and beliefs about creation into art. Since its launch early in the fall of 2014, Dustmade Jewelry has successfully married her passion for the gospel-inspired "majesty and the movement of creation" to the originality and beauty of the handmade.
Anna came to me inquiring about product photos last fall, and of course I was instantly excited. Her artisanship and whole-heartedness in Dustmade is unmatched. I want to put some words to our photoshoot, because I believe it is a reflection of Anna's attitude for life and creativity.
We arranged the shoot at my home... that Couper and I just moved into a week earlier! To be honest I was dying to photograph in the 1930's light-filled house. Needless to say, the house was half-way in boxes and just odd- ha! Anna came bouncing in with an excited smile that morning with two sweet model-friends and we cleared a space for staging. There were so many pieces of jewelry, and Anna, Ivey Jane, and Bonnie were reaching to arrange the next set and so helpful in organizing the pieces while maneuvering in a limited space. The shoot lasted almost four hours, and everyones attitude was still so positive and encouraging. It struck me that this shoot, which took place in the middle of a moving/transitory mess, is aligned with her vision of Dustmade. Something beautiful was made right in the middle of imperfection and disarray. Creativity in the unideal. It was really so fun, and that is what life should be.
"For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust." - Psalm 103:14
